The George Mason University Foundation announced the appointment of 13 new members to its Board of Trustees, effective July 1, 2021.
“We congratulate and thank these outstanding community leaders for serving on the Board of Trustees,” said Trishana Bowden, president of the George Mason University Foundation and vice president for advancement and alumni relations at George Mason University. “They join a diverse group of leaders dedicated to advancing the university’s mission to provide access to excellence for all.”
The new board members are:
Tim Cannon, PhD Information Technology ’89, a senior executive in the worldwide public sector for Amazon Web Services. A global cloud solution executive, he has extensive experience in building successful businesses and teams operating in international and domestic markets at firms including Houghton Mifflin Harcourt and Microsoft.
Colin Hart, MA ’93, the managing director of Freedom Capital LLC and managing partner of Freedom Development LLC. He is the immediate past president of the Schar School Alumni Chapter Advisory Board and a former member of the Alumni Association Board of Directors.
Deepak Hathiramani, the founding partner and executive chairman of SteeleHarbour Capital Partners. He currently serves on the President’s Innovation Advisory Council and the Volgenau School of Engineering Advisory Board. His philanthropy to Mason helped establish the Hathi Endowment for student scholarships in the Volgenau School. He was previously the founder and CEO of Vistronix Intelligence and Technology Solutions.
Jerry Hogge, III, JD ’97, senior vice president and general manager, public sector, for the MITRE Corporation, a not-for-profit organization that manages federally funded research and development centers. He has more than 30 years of executive leadership experience with firms including Leidos, SAIC, and Unisys.
Tamara Nall, founder and CEO of The Leading Niche, a consultancy headquartered in Washington, D.C. that offers data analytics, cybersecurity, health IT, and other services to commercial and government customers in the U.S. and abroad. The president of TechServe Alliance’s D.C. chapter, Nall is a sponsor and conference co-chair for DisabilityIN, a nonprofit that advocates for business professionals with disabilities. She holds an MBA from Harvard University.
Delbert Parks, the vice president and Virginia site executive for Micron Technology, Inc. Parks oversees the firm’s manufacturing facility in Manassas, which employs more than 1,600 and whose production of high-end memory products makes it one of the largest exporters in the commonwealth. He serves on the board of directors of the Northern Virginia Technology Council.
Tim Peterson, co-founder and managing partner of Pike Hill Capital Partners, an investment firm based in Great Falls, Va. Previously he spent more than a decade serving in three different leadership roles for Choice Hotels International: as director of corporate finance and development for Choice Hotels, as principal of Realty Investment Company, and as managing director and chief investment officer of SunBridge Capital Management.
Robin Valentine, BS Accounting ’96, a partner with the consulting firm KPMG, focused on the company’s federal practice. Ms. Valentine is a board member of the Community Business Partnership, a non-profit that promotes small businesses in Fairfax County. A former president of the D.C. chapter of the Accounting and Financial Women’s Alliance, she served on the boards of the Greater Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants and Washington Empowered Against Violence.
Ruth Williams-Brinkley, regional president, mid-Atlantic states, for Kaiser Permanente, one of the nation’s leading health care providers and not-for-profit health plans. In that role she oversees all of Kaiser Permanente’s care delivery and health plan operations in Washington, D.C., suburban Maryland, Baltimore, and Northern Virginia. Previously, she served for three years as president of Kaiser Foundation Health Plan and Hospitals of the Northwest.
Christine Landoll, BS Accounting ’89, MS Taxation ’92, the president-elect of the George Mason University Alumni Association, is the new Alumni Association representative to the Board of Trustees. She teaches undergraduate courses at the School of Business, where she has also served as president of the School of Business Alumni Chapter Board and as a founding member and co-chair of the school’s management advisory council. A business executive and consultant, Landoll has nearly three decades of experience in professional services, primarily with Deloitte.
Rolando Flores Santos, BA Global Affairs ’18, is the Graduate of the Last Decade (G.O.L.D.) representative. A legal assistant with Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer LLP in Washington, D.C., he has served as president of Mason’s Latino Alumni Chapter since 2019.
The incoming dean representative is Alpaslan Özerdem, dean of the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter School for Peace and Conflict Resolution. The incoming faculty representative is Liza Wilson Durant, associate dean for strategic initiatives and community engagement with the Volgenau School of Engineering.
The Board of Trustees also recognized and thanked the following members whose terms ended on June 30: Benjamin Graham, Paul Kyle, M. Yaqub Mirza, Jeff Smith, faculty representative Keith Renshaw, and dean representative Ann Ardis.
