DONOR RECOGNITION

SOCIETIES

George Mason University is one of the nation’s top public universities, an economic engine for Northern Virginia, and a focus for community life. Here, lives are changed, as people unite to make the world a better place. Your giving is essential to these accomplishments. Through our donor recognition societies, we recognize and honor your commitment. For all of us, your giving matters.

THANK YOU!

President’s Circle

Our original giving society, the President’s Circle recognizes donors who have generously contributed $2,500 or more to any university fund during the fiscal year (July 1-June 30). The President’s Circle now includes more than 1,000 members, whose impact on the institution is lasting and deep.

President’s Circle members provide ongoing, essential support for our schools, colleges, and programs, such as academics, athletics, the arts, student life, facilities, and research.

Note: Qualifying amounts are $500 for young alumni (within five years of attaining the first degree); $1,000 for alumni six to ten years after attaining the first degree; and $5,000 for corporations.

Boxwood Society

The Boxwood Society recognizes those who have made cumulative commitments of $25,000 or more to Mason during their lifetime. Boxwood Society members fund the scholarships, research, facilities, and programs that allow Mason to break new ground for higher education in Virginia and beyond.

As a Boxwood Society member, you help Mason build the foundation for a great future. Thanks to you, Mason is making its mark as a great university, distinguished by our innovation, our diversity, our entrepreneurial spirit, and our accessibility.

Mason Society

The Mason Society recognizes those who have made cumulative commitments of $100,000 or more to Mason during their lifetime. As part of the Mason Society, you are one of a small group of community leaders who together are envisioning Mason’s future—and you make that vision a reality through your leadership giving.

Mason Society members create endowed professorships and endowed scholarship funds, support research of consequence, and provide critical funds for new facilities, among other initiatives.

Commonwealth Society

The Commonwealth Society recognizes those who have made cumulative commitments of $1 million or more to Mason during their lifetime. Commonwealth Society members are builders and creators, in every sense of those words. You consider the needs of today and tomorrow, as well as how Mason should evolve to meet those needs.

As a Commonwealth Society member, your generosity advances the common good. We honor you for making transformational gifts whose impact is felt not only at Mason, but far beyond—improving life across our region, our commonwealth, and the world.

Legacy Society

The Legacy Society recognizes individuals who have included Mason in their long-term financial or estate plans at any giving level. You have thought carefully about your future, your family, and your legacy, and we are honored that you have chosen to make Mason a part of that plan.

Planned gifts can be structured to support any school, college, or program at Mason. When you’re ready for a conversation, you can contact Aquanetta Betts, Director of Planned Giving, at mylegacy@gmu.edu or 703-993-6971.
