UPDATE: April 6, 2018

WE DID IT!

Thank you Mason Nation! Our second annual Giving Day was a huge success. More than 1,260 donors contributed more than $253,000 (and counting) to programs and causes ranging from scholarships to business to the arts to the Green Machine, and more. There was also a huge amount of activity on social media, as supporters encouraged their friends to give. You can check out the social media fun on our tagboard on the Giving Day website at givingday.gmu.edu.

Mason’s second annual Giving Day is Thursday, April 5.

The idea behind this new tradition is simple: it’s a day to show your pride in Mason, in whatever way means the most to you.

A celebration of the power of giving, Giving Day is a 24-hour race to raise as much as possible for Mason’s most deserving programs and causes. Special fundraising projects chosen by each school and unit are featured on the Giving Day website at givingday.gmu.edu.  But every gift made on April 5 to any fund counts toward the Giving Day goal.

Give Now for Giving Day

Last year, faculty and staff were a crucial part of Giving Day’s success, with 287 making their own gift to Mason that day, including 102 who gave for the first time. It was an impressive showing of support for Mason from the people who know it best.

For those who’d like to participate, there are several ways to get involved:

  • Make a donation of any amount to your favorite program. You’ll find the list and details about how to give at givingday.gmu.edu.
  • Spread the word with your friends and colleagues through social media. Tweet using the hashtag #Give2Mason. The Giving Day website has images, logos, and graphics that you can use.
  • On Thursday, drop by the Giving Day tent on the Fairfax Campus. The tent will be set up all day on Wilkins Plaza, where students will be signing thank you postcards to donors. Some special guests, including deans, will be stopping by.
  • Celebrate by attending the Giving Day watch party with alumni, faculty and staff, held Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at the BB&T Bank Homer Building (601 13th St. N.W.). The event includes great food and drinks, a DJ, and incredible views of the D.C. skyline atop Metro Center. The cost is $10 and you can register here.
