The College of Engineering and Computing was founded in 1985 as George Mason University’s School of Information Technology and Engineering. Today, this large, multidisciplinary school comprises the Volgenau School of Engineering and the Long Nguyen and Kimmy Duong School of Computing.

Through teaching, research, and practice, the College of Engineering and Computing seeks to graduate students who take initiative and leave the planet better than they found it. As we continue to expand and annually increase our number of graduates, we ask you to consider the impact that the school could have with your additional support.
The world is a different place now than it was in 1985, and so is our college. Our programs have expanded and evolved to match ever-changing demands for engineering, computer science, and information technology.
Priority Funding Needs
People
Through endowed or expendable scholarships, we can enhance experiential learning opportunities, instead of leaving them to juggle multiple competing demands to complete their education. And with faculty fellowships, chairs and discretionary funds, we can create a stronger faculty for the benefit of the school and its students.
Programs
We need to continue to build programs that drive the college forward and help it stand out, such as the new construction management program or the new cyber program. But with these growing departments, we also need state-of-the-art tools and equipment to fully prepare our students for the future.
Platforms
The college has experienced dramatic growth, which demands new spaces to accommodate the influx. Our newest programs are constrained by our current spaces, on top of the need for more collaborative, multi-disciplinary spaces. Every lab, wing, and building is a new opportunity to create stronger, well-rounded engineers.
