Robert E. Buchanan, principal of Buchanan Partners and a former trustee of the George Mason University Foundation, was awarded the Williams Trophy by the Washington Airport Task Force in recognition of his leadership in our region’s transportation needs, including critical issues that have had a significant impact on ground access to Reagan National and Washington Dulles International airports. The presentation was made at the task force’s 39th Annual General Meeting on March 31, 2022.
Buchanan and his wife, Sharon, are longtime friends of George Mason University. They have supported many Mason programs and initiatives, including the Stephen S. Fuller Institute, College of Visual and Performing Arts, Hylton Performing Arts Center, the Center for Regional Analysis, and the Center for Real Estate Entrepreneurship.
“Bob is one of Northern Virginia’s finest volunteers, having supported so many aspects of the local community,” said George Mason University Foundation President Trishana Bowden. “We’re excited that he received this well-deserved award recognizing his years of pioneering transportation access.”
The George Mason University Foundation was a proud Benefactor Sponsor of the 39th Annual General Meeting and Williams Trophy Presentation at which Buchanan was recognized. He served as a trustee of the George Mason University Foundation from 2007–2016.
